How much hay will I need this winter?
Horses need at least 1.5 to 2% of their bodyweight a day in forage, measured as dry matter. Put in your horse's weight and your supplier's bales to see what to order.
For days
- Dry matter a day (1.5 to 2%)
- As fed, a day
- For the whole period
- Bales
- Cost
Never go below 1% of bodyweight as dry matter a day, even for weight loss (Your Horse). If your horse is overweight or unwell, ask your vet before cutting forage.
