Your horse's year: farrier, teeth, jabs and worming
Put in the last dates you know. We work out the next ones from published guidance and give you a calendar file for your phone. Your vet's advice comes first.
The next 12 months
Dates are reminders to book, worked out from the intervals above. Your vet, farrier and dentist may advise differently for your horse.
Where these numbers come from
- World Horse Welfare: farrier every 6 to 8 weeks on average; teeth at least once a year
- BHS: teeth checked every 9 to 12 months
- BEVA: flu boosters at most 12 months apart
- British Equestrian: FEI competition rule, within 6 months and 21 days
- BHS: worm egg counts 3 to 4 times a year, spring to autumn; tapeworm tests spring and autumn
- University of Edinburgh vet school: egg counts every 10 to 12 weeks; December treatment for encysted redworm
